These days, Christmas markets abound — indoors and outdoors, with palpable European influence and all-American in ambiance and flavor. When Georgetown on the eastern flank of the Rockies started its market half-a-century ago, it was a rarity. It was a time before Internstate 70 blasted through the tight Clear Creek Valley where Georgeown is located, but all it takes is a quick jog of the highway to enjoy an old-fashioned, small-town Christmas It’s this weekend and next (December 4-5 and 11-12).

Georgetown hosts a the daily procession of the Santa Lucia, plus carolers in Victorian costume, dancers, and other family entertainment. A holiday season visit to Gerogetown is like stepping back in time when the village is when adorned with lights, festooned with Christmas greenery and blanketed with snow.
Christmas Market is an outdoor European marketplace beside the lovely downtown streets. Small wooden market stalls brim with handcrafted gifts and holi9day items. Around the corner are Georgetown’s unique shops that sell Christmas ornaments and decorations, Victorian items for the home, art, Colorado wine, rare books, jewelry, exquisite clothing, antiques, and gifts.
